Model Intensive Workshop
Rocky Mountain Entertainment Agency
OMD4 Makeup & FX has gone international. We were on-site at the Model Intensive Workshop hosted by Rocky Mountain Entertainment Agency (RMEA) January 10 and 11, 2015 in Missoula, MT to handle makeup for the 19 models in attendance.
In addition to learning about the business side of modeling the workshop gave models currently signed with RMEA and those looking to break into the industry an opportunity to work with professional hair and makeup artists and photographers in order to build a portfolio.
OMD4 Makeup & FX's Olivia Morley worked with hair stylists Lisa Gregory and Lisa Simecek to create looks that ranged from very basic, neutral tones to bold and dramatic finishes with embellishments like feathers, lace and rhinestones.
The girls, aged 13 to 25, then got to rock their best poses for Missoula-based photographers Brian Johnson of Glaston Vallhal and Dax Kuehn of Dax Photography.
22-year-old Jessica Johnson, one of RMEA's curve division models, was there to gather a few more shots before heading off to New York on a six-week contract.
Casey Pobran, owner of RMEA said: “They are very specific about what they want in a curve model. They want that striking, beautiful bone structure and not just those stereotypical measurements where you have to be a size zeros. New York is now looking for girls that are size eight and larger, which is beautiful and exciting.”
While most of the girls were from Montana, Harli Miller, 14, travelled from Mississippi with her aunt Kimberly Brady, owner of Brady Talent Group. Harli has been going to similar events since she was 11 and has modeled in the US and Canada and will be working in Tokyo next summer.
For 15-year-old Caroline Kiemele, who was scouted less than a month ago, it was her first photoshoot and Mum, Penny, was there to provide support during the 10-hour days.
“It was a very scary to me, the idea of doing this. I saw a lot of girls walking around in some pretty skimpy outfits yesterday, but really they are professionals and it’s art they are doing. Spending yesterday here with the two photographers I feel very confident and I trust them,” Penny said.
For all involved over the weekend, the days may have been long, but the resulting pictures will be well worth the time. OMD4 Makeup & FX was privileged to be part of this event and is looking forward to working with RMEA again in Billings, MT this coming April.
